Maha Shivratri 2018: Maha Shivratri is an annual Hindu festival to worship Lord Shiva. This year, the festival falls on February 13th, to mark the convergence of Shiva and Shakti. Celebrated in the honor of the Hindu God, Shiva the meaning of the word ‘Shivratri’ literally translates to the meaning, ‘Great night of Shiva’. Shivratri is one of the most religious festivals for the Hindus, and hence, it is observed with utmost care and devotion. On Shivratri day, devotees finish morning rituals, take bath and then observe fast for the entire day. Devotees should break the fast between sunrise and before the end of Chaturdashi Tithi to get the maximum benefit of the Vrat. It is believed that observing the day religiously will free them from their sins, and fulfill their wishes.
